As long as your bike is tough, it'll most probably be fine. It's much better to use a DH bike because there's so much fun DH to pin. But the uphills kill. If your legs are strong and you have good lung/heart/lactic acid recovery, you'll be better off. The all mountain guys WILL still overtake you on the few long climbs, but you can destroy them on the DH when you get to the top! That is very fun to do.

Yeah, a good and high PSI and make sure everything is done up tight, but I think "holding on and hoping for the best" is a good philosophy! It's always been mine, and I've never suffered a puncture or had any mechanicals - but I've seen plenty who have. Rear mechs hanging off, lost chains, people fixing punctures everywhere. I think it's mainly luck (and picking a good line!). As long as you've got dual casing DH tyres and some nice heavy thick DH tubes, you should be fine. I think a lot of problems happen to people who try to lose weight using lighting, weaker tubes and parts. Are you using a DH bike?

This will be my 3rd time. It is awesome, not just the race, but the whole week, the whole experience. The qualifer and main race runs will have you riding every kind of trail you can imagine, it's insane! Huge boulders, loose rocks, sandy dirt, grass fields, snow, ice, amazing smooth flowing DH singletrack near the bottom heading towards allemont at the finish. My advice is to get as many full practice runs in as you can during the week, and practice the snow! It's a nightmare to ride!

You'll love the mega. The thing is, the nervousness will continue to build and build from now, right up until you're in the crowds battling for the lift to get to the qualifier start line - at that point you'll be questioning the whole logic behind signing up and wondering why you are going into battle rather than enjoying the fine alpine DH - but dont worry, once the race begins it's all focus, nothing else will matter - and after - you'll feel f*cking great!
